Saahil Uppal featuring Pinjara Khubsurti Ka has crossed 200 episodes to everyone’s delight. While amid the pandemic the makers, actors and technicians of the show were worried how it will fair, the fans, it seems, enjoyed every bit of the journey so far. The actor sounds both happy and grateful that they could live up to the viewers’ expectations so far, and hopes they will continue to do so. “I had signed Pinjara Khoobsurati Ka before the lockdown last year and we were supposed to start the shoot before the lockdown. So, I was very nervous thinking about what will happen with the show and whether I will have work in future,” he says.
Luckily work resumed August 2020 onward and the makers decided to go ahead with the show. “I consider myself lucky and grateful that I have work during such testing times. We were worried if the show would survive the pandemic because during the lockdown many shows got launched but unfortunately went off air and there were rumours about our show also ending. But we managed to put the rumours at bay and just worked hard. I have always been positive in life and I am happy that the audience connected with our show and gave us love. And I don’t think about other aspects like TRPs because that is not in my hand. My job is to work hard and give my best. There were many times I was asked on sets whether the show is going off-air and I would tell them to just focus on our work,” adds the actor.
When asked if he was sceptical about portraying a flawed hero on screen, Saahil replied that he was all the more interested on the contrary.
“I liked the concept of the show when it was narrated to me and it was quite different. Omkar is flawed and not a typical hero or a regular guy. He is complex and that is what had me hooked. In fact, when I auditioned for this role I had this feeling that this role belongs to me and I got it… We tried our best to not go overboard and end up glorifying him or else hatred and backlash would come our way, thankfully it worked. This 200 episode milestone is a huge thing for us in such times. I’m thrilled. We had a small celebration,” says the actor, who also praises his co-star Riya Sharma for her performance.
“Riya is a senior actor but she has no air about herself. She is very sweet and cooperative. We discuss our scenes and give suggestions to each other. We share a good bond,” he adds.
