Plot: In the backdrop of a lavish destination wedding in Thailand, two strangers nursing broken hearts find solace in each other’s company. Dev Saraf (Rajveer Deol), a struggling entrepreneur dealing with personal setbacks, reluctantly attends his childhood crush Alina’s (Kanikka Kapur) wedding. Amidst the celebration, he crosses paths with Meghna Doshi (Paloma Dhillon), the groom’s best friend, who is also recovering from a recent breakup. Their encounter sparks a connection that may lead to a new beginning in their lives.
Review: “Dono” unfolds as a vibrant and colorful wedding extravaganza, characteristic of Sooraj Barjatya’s production, brought to life by first-time director son Avnish Barjatya. Beyond the festivity, it tells a sweet love story with deeper themes. The film explores how the new generation deals with relationships and societal expectations. Meghna’s realization of deserving better treatment in her relationship and Alina’s struggle with traditional expectations are portrayed with authenticity, devoid of unnecessary drama.
The film’s visuals are a treat, whether set in the luxurious wedding venue, pristine beaches, or bustling streets of Thailand. The music, composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, adds to the celebratory atmosphere, though some tracks extend the runtime unnecessarily.
Rajveer Deol and Paloma Dhillon make a compelling debut with their on-screen chemistry, portraying their roles convincingly. Rohan Khurana and Aditya Nanda also deliver commendable performances.
At 156 minutes, the film feels slightly long, with numerous festivities occasionally slowing down the pacing. “Dono” is a refreshing departure from edgy dramas, catering to those with an appetite for heartwarming love stories.
