Amal Sehrawat: Theatre or films, acting is acting

Acting is acting, says actor Amal Sehrawat (playing Jagga in Choti Sardarni), adding that the style of acting might vary for different mediums, but all platforms are equally important.

“Acting does not change but the technique of acting changes. So, for example, if you are doing theatre, you have to be louder in your body language and expression comparatively because people are sitting far away from you. But if you are shooting for the camera, it depends upon the magnitude of the shot. If it’s an extreme close up shot then you don’t have to move a lot, don’t have to exaggerate your emotions,” he says.

Talking about how he got into the field of acting, he says, “After exploring modelling and films, I wanted to explore the field of television also so, I asked my mentor Rajan Shahi, who is also a very dear friend of mine, for work. I asked him for work and told him that sir if something interesting is coming up on your show then please let me know. Fortunately, that time the audition was going on for the role of Sangram so he auditioned me for that and I got selected. Then there was no looking back from that day.”

Ask him who is his inspiration in showbiz, and he promptly says, “My inspiration is Amitabh Bachchan. He is also my role model because he has been working since the past four decades now and every decade he is becoming better and better. He is very professional and very punctual.”
