Singer turned actress Amika Shail performed at the World Youth Forum in front of the Egyptian President and several other international leaders. The event took place at the National Congress Convention at Sharm El Sheik, Egypt. In the visit to the country of pyramids, Amika had the task of translating the lyrics in Hindi, recording the song, and ultimately performing on the song – all in a fortnight.
Commenting on the occasion Amika said “The World Youth Forum is the perfect international platform to send a message of peace, prosperity, harmony, and progress to youth across the globe. I sincerely feel that music has the power to unite the world. This event was first initiated in the year 2017, I had performed then as well. It feels great to come back after 5 years again to represent India, especially since these years witnessed my transition from a singer to an actor.”
The countries that were selected to perform at the august event this time were Korea, Germany, Russia, Brazil, Italy, Kenya, and India. The concert was a star-studded affair with dignitaries across the globe witnessing it online. Upon her return to India, the Hon. Egyptian Ambassador to India welcomed Amika at the embassy to felicitate her and gather the actress’s feedback on her Egypt trip. “It was a wonderful and humbling experience, meeting actors, performers, and singers from across the world. The camaraderie all of us felt in the short span of a fortnight was phenomenal despite the language barriers. The meeting with His Excellency Wael Hameed, Ambassador of Egypt at his office in Delhi was quite a surprise. I am also amazed to know about the numerous initiatives that the Egyptian Embassy is taking for cultural exchange. I am sure that in the due course of time – the two countries will be closer than ever before” said Amika as she signed off for the moment.
