Fashion designer Anjali Dhingra Phougat on helping the needy in these times: We can ever run out of something worthwhile to give

Reeling under the surge in Covid cases, India is facing extremely difficult times. Ohio-based fashion designer Anjali Dhingra Phougat, who also has her family in India, is also worried about the deteriorating state of affairs in the country. However, she is trying her best to hold up and also motivating people around to not panic or lose hope.

“Stay calm and follow the government guidelines. Together we can overcome any difficult situation. Have patience and stay positive. I am doing the same. Meditation is helping me stay positive, focus on my long term goals and also helping people around me and those in need to my best capacity. Even though the present situation is getting harder, if we all come together, we can make the world a better place,” she says.

Phougat is focusing on her new collection. She has recently joined the initiative led by Columbus Fashion Council and donated PPE kits and masks to our healthcare workers.

“I am also involved with women rights issues in South Asia. I have initiated a crowd-funding campaign to support education of underprivileged kids and worked towards collecting funds for domestic violence victims. I also did a fundraiser activity on social media to support the non-profit organization No More Tears (Miami based NGO run by actor-turned-humanitarian Somy Ali) in 2020. I donate a part of the revenue from my clothing line Designer Dream Collection to multiple non-profit organizations to support social causes. Since last year we have been also contributing to charities that provide food to those who are in need during the pandemic,” adds Phougat, who is currently working on “voluntarily styling domestic violence victims” for a forthcoming event in Miami.

Encouraging those in the position to help those who are suffering the most, Phougat says that these acts of kindness give us purpose, confidence and happiness.

“As we work towards providing light to others, we naturally light our own way. At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even accomplished, it’s about who you have helped, what have you given back to society. The point is none of us can ever run out of something worthwhile to give. So do your bit and see how we can rebuild this beautiful world,” she ends on a note of positivity.
