Anjali Phougat on mental health: Mindfulness is a way of life… do whatever makes you happy, meditate and focus on the positives

Among the many other ill effects of Covid-19 is stress that all of us are facing in the present situation. Many people are doing many things to keep their mental health better. Anjali Phougat too has her own ways to do that. The designer and humanitarian shares a few of her stress relief strategies and urges everyone to follow them.

“Mindfulness is a way of being fully present in the here and now. Whether you are practicing mindfulness while sitting perfectly still or while engaging in some activity, the key is to pay attention to the information you’re getting from your five senses. As you do, worries and thoughts of the past and future recede. This puts you squarely where you need to be, in the present moment where you can do what needs to be done and act on the choices you make,” she explains the idea of mindfulness that is the first step towards attaining sanity. Meditation is helpful. Involving in the things that bring joy in one’s life should be practiced.

“I love designing outfits with my team and this brings joy in my life. I feel really fortunate to be able to live my dream. There are only a few people in the world who get to do what they enjoy for a living. So, I think we all should do whatever makes us happy. Setting UP priorities, keeping your work organized, working out regularly, focusing, and talking about mental health is important,” says Anjali, who has been involved in multiple mental health awareness programs.

Her brand Designerdreamcollection supports mental health awareness and she has been very vocal about it in the past as well. “I had a chat show with actors Shweta Kawaatra and Madhoo Shah. They together shed the light on treating stress and anxiety and giving these things equal importance like our physical health. Those inspirational shows and videos are on my Instagram and Facebook pages. There’s so much to learn from them,” she adds.
