Playing pranks on people just for the fun of it and making many enjoy a lighter moment is what April Fool’s Day is all about. April 1 is the day when it’s celebrated all across the world. On the occasion, we ask celebrities about that April fool joke which backfired either on them or on someone else towards whom it was directed. Here’s what they shared:

Since my friends know that I’m going to fool around on the day there are chances of the prank being coming back to me. And it has happened earlier. But nothing has ever gone worst. We all understand and laugh it out together.
Nitin Kumar Gupta:
We planned an April Fool’s joke on a common friend. At the National Sports Club of India, Mumbai, we told him we would be introducing him to this girl who has a huge crush on him. But this girl never really existed. Unfortunately, he never turned up and we were left with nothing and were ourselves waiting for the non-existent girl all evening.

It was a simple prank indicated towards my brother Rishab Sipani. I wanted to see how he would react and what happened next was something else. I acted as if I am dead and seeing me in that state my brother fainted.

The April fool joke turned out bad actually happened when I was in school. I had a crush on this girl, so I thought I’ll propose to her and if she says no I’ll be like ‘hey it’s 1st April’ and save myself the rejection and embarrassment. But what happened is that she didn’t say anything and after sometime my school principal called me and asked to me get my parents to school the next day. And I got super scared, could not sleep the entire night.

One of my close friends was fooled by another. It was all planned just for the fun of it. But then the one who was fooled got really angry and an argument started with my other friend who masterminded the prank. Their argument took such a bad turn that since then they have not spoken to each other till date. It has been several years now and we could never convince them to get back to being pals.

It was my friend’s wedding on April 1 and she invited me over. She said that it was just a court marriage and she is only calling close friends and family. I kind of completely ignored the same thinking that this is a joke but it was not and I missed the wedding. She was also very upset. It was really foolish of them to do something like that on such a day.

On April Fool’s Day I ended up going to a jail when I was a teenager. My friends and I used to visit that Governor’s Kothi in Nagpur. There was a VIP area where people used to come for evening walks and we would scare them wearing creepy face masks. We did the same on one April 1 and ended up at the police station because the person whom we tried to play the prank on was the police himself. And then our fathers were called and we were given a strict warning to behave ourselves and avoid doing such things. This nuisance was happening everyday at this particular which the police was aware of so they planned to catch the pranksters and came in civil dress to find out who were doing it. Since we were too young, meant no harm and all belonged to good families we were just given a warning.
