Highlighting yet another important issue related to the human right to water, in &TV’s Ek Mahanayak – Dr B.R. Ambedkar, the current track will focus on Young Bhimrao (Atharva) battling against discrimination faced by his community as they are denied access to water. Access to clean water is an essential and basic need, yet Narrotam (Vikram Dwivedi) and Prachand Dev Ji (Govind Khatri), along with David (British Officer), hatch a plan to forbid access to the chawl residents. Bhimrao takes a stand against this and fights it to make water accessible. Talking about the track, Atharva essaying Young Bhimrao, says, “Water is a basic human need, and denying it is a heinous act against humanity. The current story plot focuses on the water crisis and how Bhimrao stands up for his community to fight against this discrimination. Babasaheb was a big proponent of the values of liberty, equality and fraternity. Water inequality was one of the key aspects of his fight against social injustice. He started many active movements in this direction, such as the nonviolent resistance in 1927 to assert the right to use public water named ‘Mahad Satyagraha’, now observed as Social Empowerment Day in India.”
