For me, social media is a complete marketing tool: Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi

India’s Dancing Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi, who is currently seen in Laughter Chefs, says he uses social media for sharing knowledge as a chef. And he keeps it only about his skills and expertise without bringing his personal life into it.

He said, “For me, social media is a complete marketing tool that I use as a platform for knowledge sharing. It is basically something that I own, like the space where I belong as a chef. I share knowledge as a chef, and I do not infringe by bringing my family, my home, etc. into social media. And I refrain from doing that because I believe that it is a platform where people want to see me, and that’s about it.”

“I don’t want to show anything beyond my own life or my knowledge, which I want to share. And things that I do personally are what I want to share, and I do not go beyond that. And that’s where I draw a line. I do not share my day-to-day routine, what happens in my family, or how my children are doing. I refrain from bringing them in front. And it’s also a good thing that my family also encourages me not to come in front of the social media handles that I actually handle on my own,” he added.

He believes that social media is a double-edged sword and feels that the users should be aware of the content they are posting and that it shouldn’t harm others. “It should be a process of sharing knowledge. It should be a process of letting people know probably what you are doing personally in your life or what you are doing as a person, which could be showcasing your business, showcasing your talent, or showcasing something that you are doing. And that is what I personally do, and that is what has helped me. So if a process is continuous, whether it is, for example, the sharing of recipes, whether I get likes or I don’t like to get likes, it is immaterial,” he said.

“It is something that is my passion, and I will continue to share that passion with Zeel. And sometimes, when I do shows for television or, you know, some particular fiction roles that I get, I share those on the social platform and nothing else beyond that. I do not infringe on anything that brings harm to  society or I would say that I protect my family and not bring them in front of me,” he added.
