Mangoes are like a scrumptious explosion of sweetness and flavour, packed with fibre and a burst of vitamins. And every year, we celebrate the marvellous Mango Day on July 22, celebrating this globally adored fruit. Stroll through the bustling markets, where plenty of plump, juicy, and perfectly ripe mangoes await your taste buds. To savour the season and fill it with an enchanting fragrance, television artists from &TV share their most delightful mango recipes so that you can indulge in a mango extravaganza like never before. These include Manisha Arora (Mahua, Doosri Maa), Zaara Warsi (Chamchi, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Shubhangi Atre (Angoori Bhabi, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai). Manisha Arora, aka Mahua from Doosri Maa, shares, “Mango is my go-to fruit; I just can’t get enough of it! It’s like a year-round treat, but I eagerly await its special season when the mangoes are super fresh and juicy. I whip up many amazing recipes with this fantastic fruit during that magical time. But my ultimate favourite is Desi-style mango ice cream. This ice cream is not only delicious, but it’s also nutritious. It combines the goodness of ripe mangoes, cream, and sweetened condensed milk. Making it is a breeze: I blend mango slices until smooth, mix the remaining ingredients, and whisk them together. Then, I freeze the mixture in a container, blend it again, and freeze it for ten hours. Once it’s set, I top it with dried fruit or chocolate flakes. The result? An Indian-style mango ice cream with a rich aroma and amazing flavour. It’s simply divine!”
Zaara Warsi, aka Chamchi from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, shares, “Mango season is one of my favourites, but honestly, I can’t wait for it because I crave mangoes all the time. I whip up this delightful mango milkshake using bottled mango pulp to satisfy my cravings. It’s so delicious! The recipe is super simple and takes just five minutes to make. Here’s what I do: I grab four to five spoons of mango pulp and add two spoons of sugar, milk, and some ice cubes to a blender. I blend it all together until it’s smooth and frothy. And if I’m feeling extra fancy, I throw in a few scoops of vanilla ice cream and sprinkle some dried fruits on top as a tasty garnish. I call this recipe the Mango Milkshake Delight and let me tell you, everyone in my family and even on set loves it. This shake’s smooth texture and refreshing chill make it an absolute treat for everyone. It’s like happiness in a glass!” Shubhangi Atre, aka Angoori Bhabi in &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, shares, “We Indoris have a special love for Kairi (raw mango) and its pickles, and let me tell you, my mom makes the most amazing Aam ka aachar (mango pickle) ever. When I was a kid, I put that pickle on almost everything because it has this magical ability to make any dish taste delicious. I remember how my mom would take mango strips and mix them with salt. She let it sit for at least a day, draining the mango water. Then, she would combine the mango strips with asafetida, turmeric powder, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, chilli powder, and mustard oil. She would toss it all together, making sure the flavours were well-mingled. What makes my mom’s pickle extra special is the mustard oil, which gives it that authentic Kairi flavour and aroma. It truly becomes the perfect Aam ka Aachar.”
