Gujarati actors express their love & pride for the state’s vibrant culture and traditions

In 1960, two states were born Maharashtra and Gujarat. Every year on May 1st, Gujarat – the fifth state in India – commemorates its State Foundation Day to remember the efforts of its people who fought for an independent state. As the nation celebrates the 62nd Gujarat Foundation Day, &TV’s artists from Gujarat have come together to share their pride in their roots and extend their warmest wishes. These include Aayudh Bhanushali (Krishna from Doosri Maa), Aryan Prajapati (Hritik from Happu Ki Ultan Patlan) and Soma Rathod (Amma Ji from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai). Aayudh Bhanushali, aka Krishna from Doosri Maa, shares, “When my mother and I take a vacation, we often visit my family in Gujarat. It’s a state with so much character – you can find kites dotting the sky and a cuisine that caters to any culture. The culture of Gujarat is like no other; from its art to sculptures, it leaves an impression. The beaches, temple and capital are all famed attractions, but there’s so much more to experience. On our last trip, I saw the stunning Statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel – twice as tall as the Statue of Liberty! The surrounding area is teeming with activities, too – with sound and laser show, a butterfly garden, a cactus garden, an Ayurvedic wellness centre and many more. Cycling, boating and zip-lining were just some of our highlights! Then there’s also the valley of flowers, native forest, children’s park with a train and mirror maze, safari park, and zoo that couldn’t be missed. All this culminates in a delightful time for us all – we wish everyone Happy Gujarat State Foundation Day!”

Aryan Prajapati, aka Hritik from Happu Ki Ultan Patlan, shares, “Gujarat is a state of pride and splendour, boasting an array of captivating destinations and attractions. I’m sure that its alluring aura has a remarkable ability to capture the hearts of its guests; life here is nothing short of being a celebration! From artistry, culture, customs, and traditions to festivals and cuisine – Gujarat is ideal for an enjoyable holiday. When in the area, one must try Gujarati thali, often consisting of bhakri-shak or khichdi-kadhi. Equally famous are the people living here for their polite nature; thus, meals typically come with delicious desserts or even jaggery. On State Foundation Day, I express my wishes and salutations to everyone from Gujarat.” Soma Rathod, aka Amma Ji from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, shares, “This day marks the establishment of Gujarat, known as the “Jewel of Western India” and its rich heritage. An amazing march is held at Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Waterfall to commemorate the day. Gujarat offers so much – from great infrastructure and temples to natural wonders, like the Rann of Kutch, and scrumptious local food. With all that it has to offer, it’s no wonder visitors tend to become enchanted with the state.”
