Health and wellness for me is having is a very predictable schedule: Nikhil Nanda

Actor-producer Nikhil Nanda believes in keeping it simple when it comes to health and wellness. For him, having a routine and abiding by it is what it’s all about.

“Health and wellness for me is having a very predictable schedule of getting up in the morning, exercising, sleeping on time, and eating on time,” he said.

He also quashes advertisements that give the audience alternatives to healthy, home-cooked food. Giving his example, he said, “There is definitely no alternative to home-cooked food. Even in the office, I get my food from home, and rarely has it been like I have gone out to eat, and those are generally the cheat days.”

But he is not one to read the ingredients of any food item that he purchases. “I’m not that finicky to read the ingredients of any food items every time I’m consuming them, but I’m particular about what I eat, which is more about eating more home cooked food,” he said.

However, he pointed out that the protein intake that people are doing nowadays without following any protocols just to be in the rat race of either building muscles or making bodies “is what is causing more harm than good.”

Nikhil also asserted that social media has definitely sold the idea of being slim, adding, “Everybody tries to show that if you’re slim, then you are good-looking, admirable, there is an acceptability of yours, and you’re desirable. So I think that is something that causes a lot of mental pressure on people. I don’t think that just being slim is the goal. Being healthy should be the goal, and being healthy means eating at the right time with the right meal or food and doing your daily exercise.”

He has been exercising for the past 32 years but doesn’t follow any particular health and wellness influencer except, “One of the most well-known people of the late 90s used to be Mr. India in 1988 Naval Kapoor, who I follow even today, and although he is 60+,  his health and his routine are still better than most of the people I have seen.”
