It brings newness to the character and increases connectivity with the audience: Ray Parihar on introducing new twists

Ray Parihar, who is seen as Farhaan in Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah’s Studio LSD’s Rabb Se Hai Dua, says it’s important to introduce new twists in the show to keep the audience engaged. He said, “It brings newness to the character and increases connectivity with the audience because they aren’t expecting the twist.“

“If a role remains consistently the same, people will not be able to engage with the character. Even the actor can’t evolve throughout the show,” he added.

The audience will soon get to see quite a few changes in his character, but he wants it to be a surprise. However, he added, “Farhan will blow up both Mannath and Ibaadat with his new ruthless and cruel shade.”

Ray strongly believes that a character should keep evolving with time. “In daily soaps, storylines are subject to changes based on various factors, including audience feedback, plot twists, and character development. This means that character preparation is an ongoing process for actors, writers, and directors,” he said.

He further mentioned that daily soap characters are not static, they grow along with the show, learning and adapting to the characters and situations. “Most importantly, the channel or writer can change the plot at any point, and the actor has to accept the change and work on the new developments, moving along with time. An actor must focus on portraying their character’s emotional journey. Overall, character preparation in daily soaps is an ongoing process that requires flexibility, creativity, and collaboration from the entire production team,” he concluded.
