Lit-O-Fest Mumbai – The premium Culture & Literature fest on August 10th & 11th, 2019 in Mumbai at Hillspring –International School, Tardeo
Mumbai. Lit-O-Fest Mumbai, The global literary festival to host Interactive, engaging sessions , Live performances, Intellectual Discourses, Recitations, Book Readings & more was flagged off today by Bollywood actor Shushant Singh Rajput and Rhea Chakravarty along with Shailesh Lodha (Actor), Smita Parikh (Festival Director Lit O Fest), Mr Kiran Nagarkar(Author), Mr Pankaj Dubey (Literary Mentor Lit O Fest), Mr Vijai Vardan (Additional Chief Secretary,Haryana Tourism) at Hill Spring International School, Tardeo, Mumbai on August 10th 2019.
This two day festival will be focused on offering every writer an equal opportunity and space to be seen, heard and publish. Like its past editions the Litofest Mumbai this year also has a hard-hitting theme for writers, poets and artists. Inaugural session also saw a special poetry recital by Rhea Chakraborty who recited a selection of poems.
Actor Sushant Singh Rajput shared, “It is heart-warming to see Lit O Fest giving a solid platform to upcoming authors. Words and language are a boon to mankind. A person thinks in creative ways, but putting it on paper with the right words is an art.
Smita Parikh, Festival Director Lit O Fest shared, “We have recently launched Lit O Fest Ink, our own publishing house help people in realizing their dream of publishing their own book. This year we are launching 5 new authors under the label.
The inaugural day saw interesting Panel Discussions, Conversations, Discourses & more like Kiran Nagarkar in conversation with Kena Shree on topic Reinventing Kabir which spoke about reinventing Kabir in the era of bigotry & unreason, and many more discussions will be a part of the fest. Day 1 also saw panel discussion on ‘She the people’ for Women Centric Stories by Atika Farooqui, Arfa Khanum Sherwani, Mannu Sandhu and Padmashri Ashok Chakradhar on ‘Chakradhar Ke Chaman Main’, Shabdon ki Social Factory – The fascinating journey of words from Language to Lingo with the effervescent Mr. Vinod Dua, ‘The couples of mistakes- Reinventing Humor on Digital Platform’ with Karan Veer Mehra & Barkha Bisht.
Vinod Dua added, “Slang is taking prominence in any language. And it has entered in mainstream media with newspapers and news channels using slang language which is understood by only a small percentage of population. This dilution of language is affecting the purity of language spoken by the people and it will affect the generations to come.”
The day also saw a energetic jugalbandi of Live Devnagiri, Arabic Calligraphy & Poetry on Bhagi hui Ladkiyan’ A Contemporary Mushaira along with a Live Calligraphy Art demonstration by Artist Salva Rasool and Artist Achyut Palav. Atika Farooqui and Saima Ahmad and Smita Parikh took part in this unique poetic discussion which was moderated by Author Pankaj Dubey,
Lit-O-Fest Living Legend’ award was bestowed on the legendary Mrs. Pushpa Bharti who paid a nostalgic tribute to Shri. Harivansh Rai Bachchan & Shri.Dharamvir Bharti for their incredible contribution to literature. Lit-O-Fest Literature Legend Award 2019 for outstanding contribution towards Indian Literature was given to Shri Ashok Chakradhar. Lit-O-Fest Legend Award 2019 in the field of Journalism to Mr Vinod Dua and Lit-O-Fest Legend Award in the field of Literature- Shri Shesh Narain Singh.
Every year Lit-o-Fest receives approximately 150-200 manuscripts for the ‘Manuscript Contest’ from which 5 books were launched under Lit-O-Fest Ink. ‘Kavita Sangrah’ by Gaurow Gupta, ‘Me Too’ by Sukanya Mallik, ‘Perspective’ by Kritika Sehgal, ‘Bings of Light’ by Sawan Winchester and ‘Lipstick’ by Bidisha Sarkar are the books that will be launched this year. Re-Launch of Ghulam Mustafa Khan Sahab’s book ‘A Dream I Lived Alone’, by eminent speaker Hariharan.
Day 1 saw workshop on “How to get Published” by Author Meghna Pant, which highlighted the Dos and Donts of becoming an author and a correct way to get your book published. Lit O Fest 2019 played host to ‘Sajda’- A Poetic musical performance by Vijai Vardhan and team.
