Summer holidays are a thing of childhood, and as adults, many crave to go on those long breaks. Kanchi Singh, who is making her OTT debut with 3rd October, totally agrees with that, however, she mentioned that it is out of the question, especially with the work schedules.
“I think many adults still cherish the idea of long summer breaks, but the reality is that taking extended vacations can be quite challenging with busy work schedules. As children, summer breaks were these magical, carefree times filled with adventures. As adults, while the concept of a long summer vacation might seem nostalgic, practicality often limits us. However, I believe it’s important to carve out moments of relaxation and rejuvenation, even if they’re shorter and more frequent,” she said.
She also pointed out that, because of the pressure of their professional lives, going on long breaks is quite challenging, but people need to change this mindset to refresh and rejuvenate.
She said, “It’s true that the demands of our careers can make taking extended breaks daunting. There’s this fear of falling behind or being perceived as less committed. However, I believe we need to shift this mindset. Taking time off for self-care, exploration, or simply to unwind shouldn’t be seen as a luxury reserved only for special life events. It’s essential for our overall well-being and productivity in the long run.”
Kanchi mentioned that a short break, even if it is just a weekend getaway, can work wonders. She added, “Stepping away from the daily grind allows us to recharge mentally and physically. It helps gain new perspectives, reduces stress, and boosts creativity. Regardless of the profession, everyone benefits from a brief pause to reset and return with renewed energy and focus.”
She also revealed that she takes short breaks every few months, and believes that planning ahead is key. “I make sure to finish urgent tasks before leaving, delegate responsibilities, and set clear expectations with my team. Packing light and choosing destinations that offer relaxation and excitement in equal measure helps me make the most of my time away,” she said.
But even when on a break, the gadgets come along, and she feels like disconnecting from them is quite necessary during those days.
“I struggle with this too! While smartphones keep us connected, they also blur the lines between work and leisure. Disconnecting from devices during a break is important. It allows us to be present in the moment, fully unwind, and truly recharge. I believe setting boundaries with technology during vacations is crucial for achieving that much-needed mental break. A true break means freeing ourselves from constant notifications and embracing the joy of being unreachable for a while,” she ended.
