Prajwal Gupta on senior writer Shobhit Sinha: He taught me how to approach the work and not feel demotivated if any script doesn’t work

For Prajwal Gupta, it started off with chronicling his daily affairs in his diary as a child. While he was planning to become something else when he grows up, his further studies in Mumbai and chance meeting changed her life goals. And Gupta, probably the youngest in the industry, decided to pursue writing. Thanks to his flair and hard work, has already worked on a number of hit shows on the tube.

“I was awarded for being the youngest writer in the TV industry by World Records India. When I was 12, my mother motivated me to write a diary, which sort of developed my skill. I used to write about my daily activities, poetries, sometimes even stories in that diary. Whenever my family loved reading my pieces and would appreciate my work. I slowly realised that I can write, also the fact that I enjoy writing,” says the 23-year-old adding that later when opportunity knocked his door he was more than happy to take it up as a profession. Gupta’s first project was Comedy Nights Bachao on Colors. He was 19 at that time. Later he worked in shows such as Comedy Circus, Bigg Boss entries, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi: Shehnaaz ka Swayamvar, Honey Bunny ka Jholmal, among many others. Presently he is associated with a bunch of projects. Given how difficult breaking into the entertainment industry is, one wonders if it was a struggle for Gupta to get his first break.

“I was pursuing my BSc IT degree in 2016 and simultaneously training with the National Cadet Corps. Everything was running smoothly until I got a chance to write for TV shows. The first barrier I had to cross was managing my studies, NCC training and writing at the same time. But all my senior writers were so kind and helpful, especially Shobhit Sinha. He not only taught me how to approach this kind of writing but also how to survive the channel’s immediate feedback and requirements and not to get demotivated if any script fails to make a mark. I am grateful for his support,” he adds.
