International Tiger Day, also known as Global Tiger Day, is an annual celebration conducted on July 29th to promote awareness of tiger conservation. The day aims to help promote a worldwide system whereby we dedicate ourselves to protecting tigers and their natural habitats. To mark this day, &TV artists talk about the importance of tiger conservation. These include Geetanjali Mishra (Rajesh, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), Mohit Dagga (Ashok, Doosri Maa), and Aasif Sheikh (Vibhuti Narayan Mishra, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai). Geetanjali Mishra, to be seen soon as the new Rajesh in Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, shares, “The tiger is a unique and beautiful creation of nature. As wildlife enthusiasts and adventurers, we eagerly seek glimpses of this magnificent animal at zoos and jungle safaris. The tiger’s significance goes beyond being just another wild animal in the forest; it holds an enigmatic presence, playing a vital role in our ecosystem’s diversity as the largest among the world’s big cats. Its presence in the forest indicates the well-being of the ecosystem. Tigers hold immense importance in Indian culture as our national animal. Days like International Tiger Day foster a global commitment to protect these majestic creatures and their natural habitats. Tigers symbolise beauty, bravery, strength, and national pride. Let’s save the tiger and uphold our Nation’s Pride.”
Mohit Dagga, aka Ashok from Doosri Maa, shares, “Tigers represent our country’s pride, and we must conserve them. Supporting various initiatives, projects, and campaigns for tiger protection is crucial to maintain a healthy tiger population. As we ask from nature, we must also give back responsibly for our existence. Protecting wild tigers and their habitats safeguards them and numerous living organisms, including ourselves. Let’s avoid harming natural habitats and find alternative solutions for our growth and development. By joining hands in tiger conservation efforts, we secure a brighter, more sustainable future for future generations.” Aasif Sheikh, aka Vibhuti Narayan Mishra from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, shares, “Tiger conservation is vital for the entire planet for various reasons. As a large predator, the tiger plays a crucial role in maintaining ecosystem balance by regulating herbivore populations, leading to reduced deforestation. It’s time to step back from self-destructive practices like encroaching highways and settlements and embrace sustainable solutions. The survival of tigers lies in our hands. Let’s be part of the solution by protecting our national animals. Together, let’s save the forests to safeguard the future of tigers. In securing the future of tigers, we secure the biodiversity and well-being of our planet as a whole.”
On International Tiger Day, let’s safeguard the existence of tigers by supporting conservation efforts and preserving their natural habitats for a thriving and sustainable future!
