“Makar Sankranti is one festival that we used to celebrate with full of Dhamaka and fun in our area. We held competitions and got very competitive with our friends. I was ofcourse the best kite flying champion and used to cut many people’s kites.
We teased those people whose kites we cut by saying “kai po che”. So that everyone hears that we have cut someone else’s kite. It was an extremely tight and focused game of who does it best. We were young and hardly knew about the significance of the festival or harvest times or the traditions but we knew that we had to have fun.”
