The entourage culture has taken the industry by storm. But how fair is it for actors to bring a large group of people with them on set? Actress Sara Khan, who rose to fame with her show Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai and was recently seen in films such as Camp Decent and Guilt 3, shares her thoughts on the matter.
“I think it’s too much when actors bring many people with them,” says Khan. “It’s very crowded and expensive. It’s not fair to others who are working on the set. It’s like, okay, you’re the actor, but everyone else is working too!”
Sara also comments on the role of social media in the industry. “Social media is important, but it’s too much now,” she says. “It’s very stressful and it takes away from the real work of acting. We need to focus on our craft, not just on taking pictures and videos all the time.”
When asked about the number of people she brings with her on set, Sara says, “I usually have one or two people with me on set. My manager and maybe a hair and makeup artist. But some actors bring many people, like their own hair and makeup team, their manager, their PR.. it’s just too much! It’s like they’re bringing their whole team!”
Sara also acknowledges the impact of a large entourage on the atmosphere on set. “Too many people can be very distracting and invading,” she says. “Sometimes I like to work alone, so I can focus on my character and the scene. It’s hard to do that when there are many people around. It’s like, okay, I get it, you’re important, but can you just give me some space?”
