Simmi Karna on her vision for FNP Media

By creating inspiring, engaging and entertaining experience we’re trying to keep viewers connected to our limitless entertainment

Growing up in a Punjabi joint-family set-up Simmi Karna’s childhood revolved around listening to folktales, fables and true incidents from my grandparents and parents. Since there was no internet when she was a kid, these stories were her window to the world. Children in her family were also made to watch theatre, TV and films. These childhood experiences helped her in creating her own path, got interested in the Media & Entertainment Industry and started writing at a very early age. Now, as chief of content at FNP media, a platform for exclusive short films, Karna is happy to have found her place.

“I have worked with many qualified people and eminent organisations like Zee TV, IMG Media, Balaji Telefilms and Reliance Entertainment. I have been instrumental for the success of many tent pole properties like IPL (Sony), Pavitra Rishta (Zee TV), Bade acche lagte hain (Sony), Fear Factor (Sony). I have also made shows in different languages across India. My last work has been with Permeet Sethi titled Akhiyan Udeek Diyan for Zee Punjabi,” she gives us a glimpse of the work she has done so far.

Revealing about the kind of films FNP Media aims at showcasing, she adds, “There is always a demand for good content. At FNP Media, we are ultra bullish in keeping strong gatekeepers to churn out original content, engaging stories and give a platform to fresh talent across India. Our films and series will span across multiple short durations to create the gumption for the audience. Viewers like the unexpected twists in the plot and the short duration is an advantage too. I feel the best thing about short films is that you can leave it open ended or showcase extremely sensitive subjects that would never make it to the big screen.”

Heaping praise on Vikaas Gutgutia, MD and founder of FNP Media, Simmi shares that he is inspiring, fearless and ambitious. “He has a clear vision, mission and values. It’s a pleasure to work under a boss who demonstrates a great skill set and leadership qualities. He allows free hand and appreciates thoughts and ideas of those working in his team. It’s more like a partnership-like set-up which helps in taking the company to colossal heights,” she says.

Her vision for FNP Media is that she wants to strengthen the quality content offering mission, vision and values of Vikaas Gutgutia. “He is a maverick and under his leadership we want to make this space extremely real and relevant that resonates with all age groups. We are making a lot of short films, OTT shows and trusting on our own conviction, instead of looking at big platforms to commission first. I personally feel every story needs to be inspiring, engaging and entertaining. At the same time, it should create royalty and loyalty for the platform. We want to offer viewers an engaging experience so that they stay connected to our limitless entertainment,” she explains.

Short films are in and FNP Media is here to tap the possibilities, according to Simmi. “The average human attention is getting synchronised and shorter, and dominates the whole world with varied visual experiences. In a nutshell, short-form videos give you more freedom to produce hard-hitting, relatable content that allows maximum gratification on the go with your own pace, time and space. The future seems to be bright for content creators across the world,” she ends.
