Singer Alok Singh, who is enjoying the success of his latest song, Rang Ishq Da, says he became a singer by choice. He said, “Singing was not by chance but by choice for me. Music has always been my language to express myself to the world around me and beyond. I have always seen music as a healer, companion, friend, and even more since childhood, which made me inclined to be a singer for the world.”
“My best project so far has been Koi Deewana Kehta Hai, which is a famous poem by Dr. Kumar Vishwas that I created into a song for the love it has in it,” he added.
He believes his singing has evolved over the years. He said, “Evolving is continuous.
I remember once being a student, so eager to learn and grow with my art as a singer at the academy, and even today I am the student who learns different styles of music and expression every day from the vast world of music.”
But he doesn’t have any advice for his younger self, he said, “Fortunately, I’m blessed with the most supportive family and loved ones who have always been by my side. My younger self would receive no advice as I was following my heart even then.”
Alok also pointed out that people don’t know that he is not just restricted to playback singing; he added, “I also perform live for my audience. I play musical instruments like harmonium, dholak, guitar, and keyboard.”
How do you stay creatively inspired when work is less? “As an artist, there’s never a time when the work is less frequent. As mentioned earlier, I believe in learning and evolving as a performer for my audience, with new flavours of my music for them every time they listen to me. This keeps me creative and inspired always,” he ended.
