Born to businessman Raj Patel, Sneh Patel aka Sneh Binny too became an entrepreneur. Along with actor Divya Khosla Kumar, he also co-owns Delhi Binny’s Brigade, the team that is a part of Tennis Premier League. He also does his bit for those in need, but does not want to say much about it.
“I was born to a common man Raj Patel, in Surat. My father was working for a diamond merchant in Mumbai, and then he decided to start his own diamond trading business and later he moved into jewellery manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing. We started off from a humble background, so we are deeply rooted,” he says.
Patel has been involved in business since he passed 10th Grade. He studied from University of Cambridge – A levels, did his BBA from University of London and post graduation from University of Leeds.
“I joined my father as soon as I finished my post graduation and founded the Diamond Jewelry and lifestyle brand Binny’s World. I also started exploring the Middle East market and recently established Binny’s Jewels, the retail Jewellery brand in Dubai. I have met HRH Princess Royal Anne Elizabeth on a special invitation for excellence in education. I’ve also done short courses from Harvard Business School and UCLA. Well, it’s just the beginning of a lot more to come,” says the 25-year-old.
Talking about Delhi Binny’s Brigade, he reveals that one of his father’s childhood friends, who owns the Mumbai team, referred him to actor Mrunal Jain, who is one of the brains and hands behind the tennis league.
“He came to us with the presentation when I realised we go to the same gym but never spoke. He pitched the plan and was 100% convinced and decided to buy the team. Mrunal enthusiasm was infectious and this concept has a lot of potential. My team was awarded most popular team for season 1 and 2. In fact, I used to play Tennis for some time while I was in boarding school. I am always fond of the sport. I had been following players like Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal, Serena Williams and Roger Federer. I feel much like crickets, sports like tennis should also be given preference. I’m not satisfied with just one Leander Paes, we need more like him,” he says.
Patel also praises Kumar for her spirit and support. “She’s super sweet and helpful. She’s also very much involved in the team. I like that part about her the most. We recently attended the auction for the upcoming season three and the experience was amazing. We’ve got Yuki Bhambri, Manish Suresh Kumar, Peangtarn Plipuech, among others in our team. We are now looking forward to taking the trophy home,” he adds. The third season of the league kicks off in December.
