On World Music Day, renowned Dubai-based event planner Daanish Khan who married Umarah Naushad Ali, the granddaughter of the legendary music composer Naushad Ali, shared his deep appreciation for music, highlighting its profound impact on his life and work.

Known for his dynamic and innovative event planning, Daanish attributes much of his inspiration and motivation to the power of music. “Music has always been an integral part of my life,” Daanish expressed. “It provides me with inspiration, motivation, and an emotional connection that is irreplaceable. Whether I’m seeking energy, solace, or joy, music is my constant companion.”

Daanish’s eclectic taste in music reflects his versatile approach to life. For motivation, he turns to the timeless lyrics of Majrooh Sultanpuri’s “Rukh Jaana Nahin To Kabhi Haar Ke,” while Sukhbir’s upbeat “Oh Ho Ho Ho” is his go-to for celebrations with friends. “These songs are always playing in my head, perfectly suited to whatever situation I find myself in,” he added.
The power of music to transform moods is a recurring theme in Daanish’s narrative. “Music can completely alter my state of mind,” he noted. “It’s a powerful tool for enhancing mood and energy.”

Recounting one of his college memories, Daanish says, “I vividly remember during my college days, I went on a trip and there was a mandir in the courtyard playing ‘Man Tarpat Hari Darshan Ko,’ a song composed by the Legendary Naushad Ali. I knew this song because ‘Baiju Bawra’ was one of my father’s favorite films, and he loved the music. This song truly exemplifies the unity in diversity of our country. Later, Umarah (my wife) introduced me to more of Naushad’s songs. I never knew that ‘Nanha Munna Rahi Hoon Desh Ka Sipahi Hoon,’ which we used to sing in childhood, was also composed by Naushad Ali Saab.”

Daanish Khan holds deep admiration for the timeless songs composed by the legendary Naushad Sahab. “His masterpieces in films like “Baiju Bawra,” “Mughal-e-Azam,” and “Mother India” not only enriched the cinematic experience but also became cultural landmarks in Indian music. Naushad Ali’s genius lay in his ability to blend classical ragas with contemporary themes, creating a musical legacy that remains unparalleled. His contributions to the golden era of Bollywood music have earned him a place of reverence in the hearts of music lovers worldwide, immortalizing him as a true maestro of his craft.”

In the digital age, Daanish observes that music has become a universal language for expressing emotions. “People use social media to convey their messages through music when words fall short,” he said. “It’s a medium for expressing trauma, heartbreak, and even joy, helping individuals channel their energy and emotions.” Daanish’s diverse musical preferences span classical, rock, jazz, hip-hop, rap, and pop, showcasing his wide-ranging appreciation for different genres.

He fondly recalls listening to old Hindi songs by legends such as Ustad Ghulam Ali, Jagjit Singh, Uttam Singh, as well as contemporary artists like Arijit Singh and A.R. Rahman. “Songs like ‘Kun Faya Kun’ are deeply meaningful to me,” he shared. “Music has always been a way to communicate love, anger, curiosity, and motivation.” Currently, Daanish is captivated by tracks like “Sakal Ban” from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Heeramandi” and “Softly” by Karan Aujla. “My all-time favorite song is ‘Suhani Raat Dhal Gayi’ – it’s a timeless piece that I love dearly,” he revealed.
