Actor Zaan Khan, who is currently shooting for his TV show “Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye”, says he doesn’t believe in social media ‘competition’ of number of followers.
Zaan has 228k followers on Instagram, 941K followers on Facebook and over 5,800 followers on Twitter he says for him the ‘number’ of followers does not matter much, he rather prefers having people who are unpretentious.
“The number of followers for me is not a big thing, be it 100k or 3 million it’s just that I believe in having followers who are genuine and real. Followers have to be genuine. Competition is everywhere in terms of fans, followers but for me there is nothing like that. I am happy with the number of followers that I have,” he adds.
The actor shares that he does follow a lot of celebrities on social media including Portugal star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo as he finds him inspiring and author Jay Shetty, who keeps posting motivational quotes.
Zaan, whose Instagram handle is filled with photos from his shows, doesn’t seem addicted to the photo and video sharing platform. He says he doesn’t feel the need and pressure to post anything or everything daily.
“I have few friends who post pictures in the morning and at night saying good night to their fans and that is crazy. For me it is like if I don’t use Instagram for a month or week I will be ok with it,” he says. “Everybody wants attention and I think there is no harm in that but if you get attention in a good and respectful way then it’s good,” he adds.
Talking about the popular perception that the world of social media is fake, the actor says he has a different take on the notion. “Everyone has different views regarding social media. Some people say it’s fake. I personally feel that many times people share their emotions through stories, quotes. I can easily discover when my friends are sad and when they are happy. There are people who are fake and like to show off as they try to look cool,” he observes.
