Manjari Mishra: Long vacations shouldn’t be exclusive to childhood memories

While she admits to leading a highly-packed daily routine as an artist, Rocket Gang actress Manjari Mishra adds that long breaks are a must no matter what. She says that these help to rejuvenate and refresh us.

“In today’s fast-paced world, the notion of adults indulging in long summer breaks may seem like a relic of childhood nostalgia. The demands of our professional lives often make it challenging to carve out extended periods for leisure. However, I believe that taking breaks, whether long vacations or short getaways, remains crucial for our overall well-being and productivity,” she says.

She adds, “Long vacations shouldn’t be exclusive to childhood memories. While the responsibilities of adulthood may limit the frequency and duration of breaks, it’s essential to prioritize rest and rejuvenation. Our mental and physical health can suffer from prolonged stress and burnout, highlighting the importance of periodic escapes from the daily grind.”

She makes sure to take some breaks, she says. “Even a brief time-off of 2-3 days can provide significant benefits, regardless of one’s profession. It offers a chance to recharge, gain fresh perspectives, and foster creativity. Whether it’s exploring a new destination or simply unwinding at home, these short breaks can help maintain a healthy work-life balance.”

She adds, “Personally, I make it a point to take regular breaks throughout the year. Before embarking on these short breaks, I ensure that pending tasks are delegated or completed, minimizing any lingering work-related stress. Preparation often involves making travel arrangements, setting auto-responses for emails, and mentally disconnecting from work obligations.”

She adds, “I believe a true break should include a temporary detachment from our devices. Disconnecting from our mobile phones allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the present moment, fostering deeper relaxation and mental clarity. Establishing boundaries around screen time during breaks can enhance the quality of our downtime and promote a healthier relationship with technology.”
